Rapamycin protects chondrocytes against IL-18-induced apoptosis and ameliorates rat osteoarthritis

Messenger RNA expression of chondrocyte-specific genes, Collagen II (A), Sox9 (B), and Aggrecan (C) evaluated by Real-Time PCR, and expression of chondrocyte-specific proteins, collagen II (E), sox9 (F), aggrecan (G), and GAPDH as an internal control evaluated by Western blot (D) in chondrocytes treated with IL-18 at different concentrations for 24 h. The values are expressed as mean ± standard deviation (SD). Significance was calculated by a one-way ANOVA with a post hoc Tukey's multiple comparisons test. *p<0.05 versus 0ng/ml IL-18 treated group.
