(A) Aloe emodin is a compound, with similar biological characteristics of aloin, but lacking a sugar moiety. Note that aloe emodin is effective in inhibiting CSC propagation, by >75% at a concentration of 15 μM. Its IC50 is between 10-25 μM. (B) Aloin or barbaloin significantly decreases mammosphere number at a concentration of 50 μM, its IC50. At 200 μM, it reduces the sphere formation by > 90%.
