Larval development is a critical stage for pro-longevity reprogramming upon mitochondrial stress in C. elegans. Basal and ATP-linked Oxygen Consumption Rate, assessed at third larval stage (a) very strongly correlate with lifespan extension in long-lived RNAi-derived Mit mutants (b), representing a potential predictor of lifespan extension in response to mitochondrial stress.
