The 3D arrangement of the genome suffers significant changes in senescence; for example there is evidence of compartment switching, TAD fusing, TAD separation and TAD shifting. Some of these changes are also triggered by decline in chromatin architectural proteins such as HMGB2, a consequence of which is SICC formation. However, in general, TAD structure is maintained.
